Dear Ananda Family,
Have you ever worked toward something that filled your heart with divine inspiration, only to discover that bringing the vision into reality required far more patience, perseverance, and teamwork than you realized?
That has certainly been true for us as we continue with the inspired transformation taking place at Karuna Devi Ashram Retreat in Los Angeles.
Each week brings visible progress. With the help of many devotees in our spiritual family, walls are being painted, floors are being renovated, tile is being installed and ten beautiful fruit trees have been planted. New bathroom renovations are taking shape, and little by little, the vision is becoming a reality. At the same time, we are discovering that building an ashram retreat takes a village and Karuna Devi continues to be in need of many hands to bring it to the vision it is inspired to be.

The challenge has not simply been the construction itself. The same core devotees working to prepare Karuna Devi are also caring for the East Los Angeles center, maintaining the existing ashram, teaching classes, supporting programs, organizing events, and sharing Ananda's teachings through outreach and social media, all while maintaining their day jobs. Life and service have continued even as the new ashram retreat has been taking shape.
Some days it feels like tremendous progress is being made. Other days the list of unfinished projects seems to grow faster than it shrinks. Through it all, we remain devoted and reminded that spiritual community is not built by buildings alone, but through our hearts devotion to our great Masters, and through our divine spiritual friendship with each other. What a sacred opportunity this is to come together as a spiritual family in sacred service to God and Guru, helping to co-create Karuna Devi.
