On the 65th anniversary of Paramhansa Yogananda’s mahasamadhi, Ananda Los Angeles has organized a day of pilgrimage and an evening program at the Temple of Light, to commemorate this special occasion.
On March 7, 1952, a banquet was held in honor of India’s ambassador to the United States at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles where Paramhansa Yogananda gave a brief speech after the dinner. Upon uttering the final words of his talk, he left his body and entered mahasamadhi.
We will begin the day’s program by visiting and meditating at the spot where the great Guru’s Last Smile photo was taken that evening.
After the Biltmore, we will head to Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale where Paramhansa Yogananda’s body was laid to rest. Here, the stillness and devotion are very easy to tune into, and we will chant and meditate together.
