On Saturday, April 29th, we celebrated our first annual Yogananda Fest. Yogananda Fest is an inspiring day-long festival celebrating and sharing the teachings of the great Master, Paramhansa Yogananda.

If you weren’t able to attend, it’s okay, we already have it scheduled for next year! Saturday, April 28th, 2018.

We were trying to think of how to describe the day. Words from one of Yogananda’s chants come to mind… “In joy and in more joy…”

Paramhansa Yogananda described God as Sat-Chit-Ananda: ever-existing, ever conscious, ever-new joy. Swami Kriyananda once said that “love is bliss in motion.” That was Yogananda Fest. Though there was a lot of activity during the day, it wasn’t frenetic. The energy was loving, blissful motion. The festival had the feeling of ever-new joy.

There was joy through the practice of meditation, yoga, affirmations, chanting, product displays, vegetarian food, and the community of like-minded souls.

Everyone felt a touch of light and joy through the presence of Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi. They shared the living link of the Masters through their practical wisdom, love, and joy. Jyotish and Devi have a way of humbly sharing with high-minded inspiration, humor, and heart that fills you with hope and divine love and joy. You feel yoga (union through love for God) ananda (bliss) in their presence.

The Indian scriptures say that God became the universe so He could “enjoy himself through many.” And He enjoyed himself through the many hundreds that came to Yogananda Fest!

We hope you can join us next year!

But you don’t have to wait until then. We have a Joyful Arts Festival coming up on Saturday, June 24, 2017. This festival is an evening of sharing the joyful arts through music, dance, poetry, painting, and more, at our Temple in West LA.

In Joy and In More Joy!
