The meaning of yoga is ‘union’, which is one way of saying, perfect self-integration. Originated in prehistory, Hatha Yoga’s highest use has always been as a tool for spiritual growth. The primary purpose of Ananda Yoga is to raise consciousness, taking the practitioner from duality to unity, from disharmony to harmony. This workshop poses the question “How can we unite our little self (ego), with the Higher Self (divine consciousness)?” Each yoga posture has a physical, mental and spiritual benefit. To help us tune into the mental and spiritual benefits, Ananda Yoga has an affirmation for each posture. Our practice today will highlight Awakening Divine Joy as a natural state of human existence. We will conclude with a guided meditation that includes chanting and practicing an affirmation for Success by Swami Kriyananda from his book Affirmations for Self-Healing.
