“Isn’t it much sweeter to see His manifestations everywhere: His beauty in the sunset; His tears for human error in the rain; His tenderness expressed in a mother’s love for her baby? If God is omnipresent, isn’t it obvious that He must also be in everything? We must seek Him behind His veils.”
Though God permeates all of creation, there are particular aspects of God that are said to be manifestations of His spirit. Among them: Wisdom, Love, Peace, Calmness, Power, Joy. This series is both lecture and experiential. Each week, we’ll explore and endeavor to deeply experience one of the eight aspects or manifestations of the Divine.
Sound: Every scripture refers to the holy sound of creation. This is AUM, the Cosmic Music spread throughout creation, audible within your own soul.
Light: Behind the seeming darkness of closed eyes, divine light blazes. “If thine eye be single,” the Bible says referring to the Spiritual Eye, “thy whole body shall be full of light.”
Wisdom: Beyond intellect, beyond reason, is the soul’s direct knowledge of Itself. Intuitive knowing. Discover from within the purpose and meaning of your life.
Power/Energy: Matter is energy. In a pinch of your flesh is enough energy to power a whole city. Even your simplest action is a manifestation of God within.
Peace: An “early meditative experience,” is the way Yogananda described Peace. Often the most accessible result of meditation, even for the beginner. “Be still and know that I am God,” the Bible says.
Calmness: Spirit is the calm, unmoving center at the heart of all creation. Remaining calm, even in the most chaotic or challenging circumstances, is the key to happiness and success.
Love: How the heart longs to love and be loved. Open yourself as a channel of Divine Love to all. As you give, so shall you receive.
Joy: Bliss is not something you acquire. It is what remains when all ego-imposed limitations are removed. To realize your Self, follow your Bliss.
