Join us on anandala.tv for this immersive journey into Paramhansa Yogananda’s sacred chants, bringing about a deep state of calmness on all levels of body, mind, and soul. Yogananda gave specific healing qualities to many of his Cosmic Chants, for example:

  • Overcoming Restlessness, Worry, & Anger
  • Overcoming Fear of Death & Failure
  • Overcoming Grief in Bereavement
  • Finding Final Salvation & Freedom in God

Yogananda played each of his chants until he felt a response from the Divine, at which time he felt them to be truly spiritualized. He encouraged others to chant these chants for healing of all dis-eases and to awaken the heart’s natural love.

Yogananda said, “Chanting is half the battle.” This was an important statement to say the least because there are so many other elements to the spiritual path – meditation, selfless service, introspection, etc. Only of chanting did he say it was “half the battle.” Why would this statement be true?

Chanting opens the heart – Sri Yukteswar (Yogananda’s guru) said, “You can’t take one step on the spiritual path without awakening the heart’s natural love.”

Chanting helps release negative thought patterns – Similar to affirmations, chanting reprograms the subconscious mind. Chanting has an advantage over affirmations because music bypasses the conscious mind, which can sabotage our efforts with affirmations.

Chanting recharges the soul – As we repeat these words of power, accompanied by harmonium and sometimes guitar, your soul-nature will relax into its true reality as a child of the Infinite. You will leave feeling refreshed and recharged.

What to expect:

No experience is needed. This workshop is not about having a good singing voice or being a professional musician. It is meant to awaken and deepen your connection with the Divine as Calmness (one of the eight qualities of God taught by Yogananda).

In between each chant will be a brief guided meditation/visualization to help you get the most from the practice. Yogananda translated most of his chants to English and words to the chants will be provided. The words repeat so, as you feel comfortable, you can let go, close your eyes, and go deep into the feeling.

All are welcome! Donations are welcome too!

LYRICS TO CHANTS

Om Song

Whence Om, this soundless roar, doth come,
When drowseth matter’s dreary drum?
On shores of Bliss, Om, booming, breaks;
All earth, all heaven, all body shakes.

The bumble bee now hums along;
Baby Om doth softly sing his song.
From Krishna’s flute the call is sweet;
‘Tis time the watery God to meet.

Cords bound to flesh are broken all;
Vibrations burst and meteors fall!
The hustling heart, the boasting breath.
No more shall cause the Yogi’s death.

The God of Fire with fervor sings:
“Om! Om!” His joyous harp now rings.
Prana-God with power sounds
The wondrous bells; the soul resounds.

All Nature lies in darkness soft;
The star divine is seen aloft.
Subconscious dreams have gone to bed;
‘Tis then that one doth hear Om’s tread.

Oh, upward climb the Living Tree!
Hark to the cosmic symphony.
From Om, the soundless roar;
from Om the call for light o’er dark to roam.

From Om, the music of the spheres;
From Om, the mist of Nature’s tears.
All things of earth and heaven declare,
Om! Om! resounding everywhere.

I Am the Bubble, Make Me the Sea

So do Thou my Lord:
So do Thou my Lord:
Thou and I, never apart. Wave of the sea, dissolve in the sea!
Thou and I, never apart. Wave of the sea, dissolve in the sea!
I am the bubble, make me the sea,
I am the bubble, make me the sea,
Make me the sea, oh, make me the sea!
Make me the sea, oh, make me the sea!
Wave of the sea, dissolve in the sea!
Wave of the sea, dissolve in the sea!
I am the bubble, make me the sea.
I am the bubble, make me the sea.

In the Temple of Silence

1.In the temple of silence, in the temple of peace,
In the temple of silence, in the temple of peace,
I will meet Thee, I will touch thee, I will love Thee,
And coax Thee to my altar of peace;
And coax Thee to my altar of peace; And peace.

2.In the temple of samadhi, in the temple of bliss,
In the temple of samadhi, in the temple of bliss,
I will meet Thee, I will touch Thee, I will love Thee,
And coax Thee to my altar of bliss;
And coax Thee to my altar of bliss.

I Will Be Thine Always

My Lord, I will be Thine always.
I may go far, farther than the stars,
But I will be Thine always.
My Lord, I will be Thine always.

Devotees may come, devotees may go,
But I will be Thine always.
My Lord I will be Thine always.

When I die, look in to mine eyes;
They will mutely say ,
“I will be Thine always,
“My Lord I will be Thine always.”

Listen, Listen, Listen

Listen, listen, listen to my heart’s song,
Listen, listen, listen to my heart’s song:
I will never forget Thee; I will never forsake Thee;
I will never forget Thee; I will never forsake Thee.

Polestar of My Life

I have made Thee polestar of my life,

I have made Thee polestar of my life,

Though my sea is dark and my stars are gone,

Though my sea is dark and my stars are gone,

Still I see the path through Thy Mercy,

Still I see the path through Thy Mercy

When My Dream’s Dream is Done

Whence do they come here?
Whither do they flit away?
Whence do they come here?
Whither do they flit away?
In all follies’ dark sway,
keep floating on hope’s way.
Take the dust of each one’s feet,
serving Mother where She sleeps.

Whence do they come here?
Whither do they flit away?
Whence do they come here?
Whither do they flit away?
In all follies’ dark sway,
keep floating on hope’s way.
When my dream’s dream is done,
She will lift me on Her lap.
