How to Meditate

Learn the basics of teaching meditation. This day-long workshop, taught by one of Ananda’s most-experienced meditation experts, gives you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach basic meditation to others.
You will learn how to explain meditation to others, the benefits of meditating, how to get comfortable, how to present meditation to others, tips on being a dynamic teacher, and more. The workshop will center around teaching “Hong Sau,” the introductory meditation technique advocated by Paramhansa Yogananda.
This workshop is open to everyone: whether you are currently teaching others or working in a leadership capacity, would simply like to informally assist your friends and colleagues, or just want to deepen your own practice, you are certain to gain valuable insight and experience in this powerful seminar. No prior experience teaching experience required.
Savitri Simpson is a founding member of Ananda, a Minister, Counselor, Raja Yoga Teacher and the Co-Director of the Ananda Meditation Teacher Training Program. For the past 24 years she has taught at The Expanding Light and several of Ananda's branch communities. Prior to becoming Co-Director of the Meditation Teacher Training Program, Savitri was the Director of Ananda’s Yoga Teacher Training program. An expert in Chakras, she teaches a course called Mystical Keys to Awakening and is the author of Chakras for Starters book and video. Savitri is among Ananda’s most popular teachers. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee (not far from where Elvis lived), she is well known for her southern charm and her delightful, down-to-earth, humorous style.
Please note: This is not an official certification course and is not the same as the official Ananda Meditation Teacher Training 9-Day certification program. While we hope to offer a certification program in Los Angeles in the near future, for now, if you would like to become an officially certified instructor, you must go to the Expanding Light at Ananda in Northern California.
